On Austrian public radio (Ö1 Europa-Journal), Alfred Gerstl spoke about Central Eastern Europe's relations with Taiwan and China during the elections on Taiwan. He argues that the region's mostly critical stance towards China (and Russia) was often overheard in the European Union (EU). But now Lithuania and Czechia, both pursuing a values-based foreign policy, strongly impact the EU's view on China and its new de-risking approach. However, Gerstl states that a pragmatic balance between values and interests must be sought.
