About the Guest Lecture
In this guest lecture, Prof. Martin Grossheim will analyse new tendencies in Vietnam War Studies. He will show that this study field is shaped by general trends in Vietnam Studies such as the boom in “New Cold War history” and memory studies but also by political shifts in Vietnam and beyond. Through his present research findings, our guest will demonstrate examples of these trends.
About the Speaker
Martin Grossheim is a historian specializing in modern Vietnamese history, Cold War studies, and memory politics. Since 2019, he has been Professor of Vietnamese History in the Department of Asian History at Seoul National University. Over the course of his career, he has held fellowships at Lund University and the Wilson Center in Washington, DC, as well as guest professorships at the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies and Humboldt University Berlin. His research focuses on modern Vietnamese history, the Cold War, intelligence history, and memory studies. He is currently working on a project titled “The Politics of History and Memory in Vietnam.”
