EcoS Prompt Generator (EPG)

What it is

The EPG is a tool designed to help EcoS students use an AI of their choice (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.) to support the writing of their term papers and MA theses.

What it does

The EPG generates a tailored prompt – a structured and relatively long text – which can be copied and pasted into an AI. The prompt has been optimized to deliver the best possible results. You only need to enter your specific information, which will then automatically be integrated into the prompt.

How it works

  1. Select one of the five available elements from the dropdown menu.
  2. Fill in the required information.
  3. Click on “Generate Prompt.”
  4. Copy and paste the generated prompt into your AI tool.
  5. Read the feedback you get carefully and use it to improve your work.
  6. Repeat this process until you are satisfied with the result.
  7. Finally, submit the outcome to your professor as usual.

Why use it

The EPG is not a substitute for your professor. It is a support tool to make thesis and term paper supervision easier, faster, and more accessible.

  • You can consult the AI as often as you like and get immediate feedback.
  • Keep in mind: no AI is perfect, so mistakes can happen.
  • Don’t worry: you will still submit your work to your professor, who will give the final feedback as usual.

Using the EPG will help you write more structured and higher-quality papers, experiment with new ideas, and gain confidence in your academic writing.

Who created it

The EPG was developed under the leadership of Prof. Rüdiger Frank, together with EcoS students in the course Methods in East Asian Studies: The Use of AI for Thesis Development (summer term 2025), with valuable support from Mr. Hubert Pawlowski, who supported the project as a Student Assistant.
