Admission to the MA Program East Asian Economy and Society

Below, you find all necessary information for admission to the East Asian Economy and Society (EcoS) MA programme. The number of admitted students per academic year (1 October - 30 September) is limited.

We encourage you to look at our website’s MA Students section, and to visit the EcoS Facebook Page for additional information. You are also invited to join the EcoS Student Facebook Group (note: Facebook account required) to get in touch with fellow EcoS students, and to contact the EcoS student representatives in case you have further questions.

Please note that the Admissions Office at the University of Vienna is in charge of all procedural matters, including the approval of documents and previous degrees. For questions regarding the program itself, we invite you to check our FAQ section or contact us directly.

The next application period will be open between March and May 2023. If your application is successful, you may commence your studies at the EcoS programme in winter term 2023/24.

Please note that all applications must be submitted via u:space.

  • The admission process takes ten to twelve weeks, after the closure of application window. [In the last three years, though, UniWien has informed applicants about the result of their applications in early June.] EcoS cannot provide information on the status of your application during this time.
