[Scholarship] Scholarships for Special Support to Students with Special Needs

The University of Vienna offers additional scholarships of up to €1.000.

I. General Requirements for the Granting of this Scholarship

  1. Students with a Disability ID Card (minimum 50% disability).

  2. Active and regular enrollment at the University of Vienna (if enrolled in multiple programs, specify one field of study).

  3. Academic achievements in the requested field of study – at least 16 ECTS in the 2024 calendar year (courses taken to fulfill conditions or courses with +/- grading cannot be considered; the date on the official transcript applies).


II. Application and Required Documents

  1. Completed application form (form available at the following link:

  2. Proof of disability through a copy of the Disability ID Card – both sides of the ID.


III. Awarding of the Scholarship

  1. Any award is a one-time payment (e.g., for housing expenses) of up to €1,000.00.

  2. The decision is made by the selection committee.

  3. All applicants will be informed of the decision in writing (via email) by the end of August 2025. We kindly ask for your understanding that, for administrative reasons, it is not possible to respond to telephone or written inquiries regarding the status of the decision before the results are announced.

  4. A maximum of 15 scholarships will be awarded in total. There is no legal entitlement to the awarding of a scholarship.


IV. Application Deadline

  1. The application period begins on Thursday, May 8, 2025, and ends on Thursday, June 5, 2025. Applications must be submitted exclusively by email to claudia.fritz-larott@univie.ac.at within this period.

  2. Incomplete applications or applications with missing documents cannot be considered for the scholarship.


V. Miscellaneous

For academic achievements, the date listed on the official transcript under the requested field of study applies, and for recognition notices, the date of the notice applies.


VI. Selection Criteria

  1. Academic performance – number of ECTS and grade average (weighted to two decimal places) for the achievements in the 2024 calendar year.

  2. Degree of disability as indicated on the Disability ID Card.

  3. Financial need.


VII. Selection Process

The ranking of applications is determined based on the criteria listed in section VI. The decision regarding the scholarship award is made by the selection committee, which consists of:

  • The Vice Rector for Studies and Teaching, ao. Univ.-Prof. Mag. Dr. Christa Schnabl,

  • The Dean of Studies, Univ.-Prof. Mag. Dr. Peter Lieberzeit,

  • The Head of the Law Program, Univ.-Prof. Mag. Dr. Christian Koller.
